What does it take to own a mobile home?

Someone is giving us a mobile home. Are there any bills that may be left with us that they haven't paid?. Rent is not a problem because I called the trailer ct owner already. What papers need to be done before I officially own the home?

I am a senior (70) non-smoker, non-drinker unable to get on section 8 or senior housing. I have worked hard all my life but I have never had the finances to buy a mobile home, much less a house. I will acept one anywhere in California, preferable in a senior park already. Thanks.

How to find a mobile home+lot in Spokane,WA?

Tried Craigslist, tried some classifieds, got word of mouth going around.
What other resources could I use? I can't afford anything an agent might have so I'm looking to try and find something “for sale by owner.”
Any help in areas that I could look would be greatly appreciated.

Does a modular home decrease in value like a mobile home or does it increase in value like a stick built home?

the modular home retailer says one thing and the mobil home retailer says something else and the regular contractor says something completely different. i need to know who's closest to thr truth. i live in northern florida

Painting on interior mobile home paneling?

Does anybody know if Behr's texture paint will work on interior wall paneling in an older mobile home. The wall is a weird incised/embossed pattern, and I know regular paint won't work on it. Do I need to primer or prep the surface in any way?

Attaching a mobile home to owned property – any advantages/disadvantages?

I know someone who owns a double or triple-wide mobile home and the property it's sitting on. She also purchased an adjacent lot. I'm not familiar with all the terminology involved, but I'm trying to find out if there are any advantages/disadvantages to making a property “permanent” on the land.

This process involves setting a foundation of some sort and having it reevaluated (by an appraiser I assume.) From there you go to the city and have it reclassified as a home vs. mobile home.

The one advantage I can think of is banks would be willing to lend home equity at better rates, treating it as a home vs. a mobile home. Many banks won't give out home equity loans to mobile home owners, even if paid off. Are there other advantages?

The disadvantage. Higher taxes? Would property taxes change somehow with this reclassification? Would it help or hurt in any way (i.e. taxes) for her to combine the property and both lots into one large lot?

In the mortgage world, when asked if you are planning to purchase a “modular, manufactored or mobile home or trailer. What is the difference between them? I always thought they were one and the same.

Walking away from a mobile home….?

a friend of mine owns a mobile home in Florida, that need's alot of work,.He is on ss. and has an opputunity to get into a funded apartment through the government. Problem is he can't sell the mobile home, there is no mortagage on it, but it is to much for him to keep it up, can he walk away? the park will not buy it. any suggestions

Can particle board flooring in a mobile home go from swollen back to almost normal?

My father lives in a 1998 mobile home. His air conditioner drain pipe clogged up and water was leaking under the vinyl flooring for quite a while before I noticed the floor was swollen up. His unit has been replaced so there hopefully will be no more leaking water. Now that the particle board is swollen up, must it be replaced with new board or will it ever dry back out and go back down some? How big a deal is this going to be?

we still owe $17,000 on it but willing to take $15,000 and pay the rest off ourselves, we just bought this mobile home in march and the park wants us to walk away and give it to them, we reallllly dont want to do that because we will still owe the $17000 on it. Im young, 18 years old, have NO idea what im doing so i reallllly need some pointers on how to sell it quick. its a 3bd 2full bath, 2000 newly remodeled everything
